Our walks....Rocks, water and beautiful scenery!

The kids and I have been walking our property and down to the road...Abe just loves to throw rocks into the water. Some pics are of our creek and others are from the creek that runs under the road at the bottom of the hill.










Here are the first pics of where we are building a fire pit and a terrace like thing around it.. might put some flowers on a lower terrace level...More pics to come when the project is complete.


This plant is Devils Club...it's a mean plant and it is everywhere. Nice big green leaves, but you can't get too close to it...as you can see there are nasty thorns on it. Just thought I would share what it's like up here. Maybe I am a little more like my father than I thought when it comes to taking pictures. I can see the resemblance and I love it! Love you Daddy!

Sunsets, wild life and scenery...

I came home from class last week to find 2 porcupines in the driveway...Ashley was watching the kids or was at the house while they were sleeping and as I drove up I saw two things and I wasn't sure what they were. After realizing what they were, I called Ashley to tell her to look out the window. One of them was coming down the driveway right at me...I started to back up, he followed me...I said, "what do I do, he's coming right at me?"...he eventually turned to go down another section of the property and then while we were inside we saw another one just outside. This pic is the best of them. Pictures just don't do any of it, any justice! They are so funny...it's like they are trying to walk fast, but can't...so they almost waddle as fast as they can.

Pics of our driveway...

Many of you have heard the stories of our lovely driveway...and yes for a few months of the year it is lovely, but most of the time it is not! When there is snow and ice on the ground or when we have a thaw in Jan..it's not fun. Although it is beautiful after a fresh snow! It reminds us of Chronicles of Narnia during the snowy scenes! I need to try to get a video, as some have requested, but I think that would take to long to put on the blog... so this will have to do!
